In addition, the National Weather Service in Cleveland on Friday confirmed several more tornadoes hit during the storms. It was on the ground for about a mile or so in Nankin Township, toppling trees and damaging a home with a top speed of 85 miles per hour. An EF2 or higher is considered a significant tornado.Ī “weak” tornado also touched down Thursday in Ashland County, according to the NWS. Tornado strength is measured by an enhanced F-scale rating from EF0 to EF5, which considers 28 different types of damage to structures and trees. The third tornado, also an EF1, formed in the area and dissipated near Greenwich, also causing damage to several structures. Homes and other buildings were damaged, and several trees were snapped.Ī second tornado, rated at EF1, damaged buildings, trees and powerlines in and around North Fairfield and parts of Ripley.
